Joachim Kappel Management Consultants, an independent firm whose focus is on providing executive search and management appraisal solutions, came into being in September 2008. Drawing on owner and founder Joachim Kappel's vast professional experience, the company furthermore offers comprehensive family office services, in particular to owner-operated and family-owned enterprises seeking assistance with any issue related to acquiring top-level managers.
Previously, through August 2008, Joachim Kappel served as Senior Client Partner and Managing Director, Leadership Development Solutions, EMEA at Korn/Ferry International, where his responsibility for leadership development solutions extended to the company's European, Middle Eastern and African operations headquartered in Vienna and London.
Prior to joining Korn/Ferry International, Kappel spent 16 years with Europe's leading executive search firm, Egon Zehnder International, serving as a partner for 11 of these years. His key responsibilities/achievements included:
- being entrusted with advising clients on the entire range of offered services
- establishing company offices in Vienna and Athens
- heading the business development effort in southeast Europe
- performing key groundwork for the offices in Budapest, Prague and Bratislava
- serving as mentor for the Moscow office
Joachim Kappel gained his initial professional experience as a legal intern in Austria, followed by another internship with a legal firm in Munich. He started his business career in marketing and product management with Procter & Gamble, in Vienna, later transferring to P&G Athens.
Joachim Kappel was a member of the Austrian Science Board, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Austrian National Library since end of 2009, and is still a lecturer in leadership and emotional intelligence at the University of Innsbruck's Institute of Management and the Ronald Lauder Business School in Vienna.
In addition to earning a Doctorate of Laws degree from the University of Innsbruck, Joachim Kappel attended postgraduate studies at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) Law School, where he received an LL.M. He speaks German and English fluently, is conversant in French and Greek, and has good Russian skills.
